  • I was really surprised to find this in your favourites list. Being from Australia in a time before mainstream internet it was hard to gauge how popular they were. Loved them as a kid and I had all of them except #52 and #53. I never got around to reading #54 because it would be like skipping to the last chapter.

I found the Hork Bajir Chronicles far more interesting than the Andelite Chronicles though, Hork Bajirs had far more likeable characteristics and their story was tragic yet fascinating.

  • @SailorRegen They were pretty big here. There was actually a (bad) television show based on the books for a while. I never read the Hork-Bajir Chronicles, but maybe if I decide to "rediscover" the series, I'll check it out. =)

  • I use to love those books. Unfortunately I did not read them all. I read most of them including two prequals the Hork Bajir Chronicles and the Andelite Chronicles. I would love for her to write the same kind of stories but with a more mature writing style for adults. Also do you think Animorphs can and hsould be made into a movie?

  • Yeah, the stories were good, but the style's a little too young for me now, which is partially why I didn't enjoy Andalite Chronicles as much this time around.

I don't know how well Animorphs would work as a movie, given how many different stories are included. You might remember that Nickelodeon did try a television series some years back, but it didn't last long. I think it just works best as a book series, but I suppose it could work as a movie if it was done well.

  • I had definitely read the whole series. It was most definitely a favorite of my childhood, and the prequels (andalite and what not) completely made my experience complete. :D Plus the arcs were REALLY well developed, but this is me saying this. after not reading it for ages. yeah I watched all of your reviews backwards just to find this review :] You've made a hardcore fan.

  • @bandgeek8408 We got the show here too (though I don't remember a completed season), which didn't give the books justice at all. Those CGI aliens were no where near as frightening or complex as the ones in my head (excuse pun), which I guess is a problem for most sci-fi books being rerendered into visual media.

I would say you really should check it out, but I read them when I was 14, so maybe I should do some rediscovering myself before recommending anything. I really enjoy your videos btw. =)

  • I mostly just flipped through them as a kid, flip books are entertaining, but I did read them a little. I was obsessed with the show. So a few years ago I found a couple in my liabrary's used book store. I'm a college graduate but I still love them! I've been building that collection back up, I still need a few, but I've only paid $0.50 for each one b/c there always seems to be some in the used book store.

  • I'm currently re-reading this series now, although in an intermittently around books I haven't yet finished. I can usually get through one in a day or two.

I don't know If you've read the series through in its entirety, but by book 45 the story starts to wind up. If you thought this prequel was a little out there, "The Ellimist Chronicles" is much more outrageous. I enjoyed it, but it required a working knowledge of the Animorphs universe, making it inaccessible to no-fans.

  • ive read them all, i still re-read them today :) the writing technique is a bit childish but the concept and storyline is deep, i love how the books go through the moralities and ethics of war...

  • I read them all! Still to this day my favorite book series!

  • lol, i used to love this series, but i disagree with the hearts comment. it was implied indirectly throughout the series that while most andalites were hardasses with no understanding of humor, some did. i wont go into specific examples because im unsure of how much u read or remember of the books. but the concept of broken "hearts" should still apply. they were intelligent and could love and could hurt. interesting review ho

  • I never got into the animoprhes series-other than this particular one. I enjoyed it 7-8 years ago Although I must admit that I could not imagine reading it today.
