Based on the book, published in 1949, this is the BBC television network's 1954 presentation of George Orwell's classic work, Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984).
Orwell, whose real name was Eric Arthur Blair wrote the fiction based upon events that he expected to take place in the future. Having a firm understanding of totalitarian governments and how their machinations of control operate to enslave the people, Orwell attempted to paint a literary picture of what a technocratic dictatorship of the future would look like.
