Jeff Morrow releases a world record marlin with 20 lb test line on a flyrod. The fish was well over 250 lbs and released from a 14 wt cam sigler fly rod. This is a "claimed" record and not a "verified" record. Unfortunately we were not able to get the fish up for a still photo and the weight is estimated by an IGFA rep Pete Santini from Boston. The video does show a few seconds of the marlin close to the boat. Let Sportsmen Addiction hook you up with some of the most beautiful marlin on the planet. There is no longer any need to kill these beautiful fish. The striped marlin is the most beautiful of all the marlins and one of the strongest. Let Braden Escobar & Capt Edwin with Pete Santini guide you to some incredible marlin fishing. • where is it?

  • Nice vid, buddy. I know how tough it is to get good video out there. Who needs a record? You have the memory.

I've caught 2 120#+ sailfish and 1 125# striped marlin on flyrod (12&14wt). I enjoyed the 2 sailfish as they were played from a stationary panga. The marlin was on a sportfisher and the captain ran the fish down and cut the fight in half. Would opt for a stationary fight next time. Mono-a-mono. Win or lose. My Abel gear is 2nd to none, IMHO.

  • Incredible that you were able to quick release a 250lb marlin from a flyrod. Was an IGFA representative on the boat???

  • got a video of the fish?

  • Congratulations on an amazing catch Jeff! Do you troll a bait or teaser of some sort behind the boat to bring the Marlin within casting distance?

Would love to try that myself sometime..it looks like incredible fun!Cheers!!

  • that was super wacko

  • WTF...all that and where's the fish?

  • Don't give up the dayjob

  • You sure did put up a fight, nice job.
