  • As director of music at the basilica since 1988 Gail has touched the lives of many thousands and really shown how beautiful the Mass can be. The choirs she directed are among the finest liturgical choirs in the country. Rest in peace Gail. Notre Dame will miss you greatly! 2/25/2010

  • amazing!!

  • The director is now Dr. Andrew McShane. He's the man playing the organ in the video and at the time was the assistant director of the choir. While I'm sure filling Gail's shoes was hard, he's done an excellent job.

  • NOOO she put on a good music program used to hear it all the time on halmark channel when they had mass on there a few years back, Basilica is in our diocese its nice been there to visit after running roadrace sunburst finishes at noterdame stadium fifty yard line,

    who is the director now?

  • Dr. Walton passed away this afternoon. May God rest her soul!

  • She who sings prays twice. ~Charlie Manson

  • gReat

  • "He who sings prays twice" - St. Augustine. You don;t get much more Catholic than St. Augustine! Come home to Rome my freind!

  • True, true. But as a former R.C. I know how some resist, and say singing is "Protestant". Not so, it is prayer in song. Music can offer great ecumenical rewards. Deo Gratia.
