Dave Jessup was a good rider but he often scored points either when it was too late in a meeting to count (especially championship meetings) or he had a history of bike failures, most notably at Wembley in both the 1978 and 1981 World Finals.

Dave Jessup terrific racer. Had bad luck on "Big Nights" and missed out on being World Champion, highly rated by Barry Briggs.
