@Daschickenify does "hemishperical heads" ring a bell? the pistons were never hemispherical, the heads were. The reason it was designed that way was partly for combustion, but more for better breathing and more valve oppening space
-
@Daschickenify no, the cylinder heads combustion chambers are hemispherical. the pistons are not domes

@Daschickenify the new Hemi is oval.
-
@tmckenney7 "Heads are Hemispherical"
- Not from what I see.
In My Opinion, they are semi domed which I think does allow for the valves to be offset at an angle for better... Shall we say... Fuel/Air/Exhaust Breathability, but given the fact that the pistons does not follow that shape to within close tolerances makes the "new hemi" more like a redesigned wedge motor.

@Daschickenify Actually man, the Heads are Hemispherical, the pistons do not have to be.
-
doesnt the 5.7 have two spark plugs per cylinder.
-
@Daschickenify actually the heads are hemispherical not the pistons ... just sayin

@Daschickenify the combustion chambers are hemispherical... not the pistons. good one smartie
This engine isn't a Hemi. A Hemi means that the piston [s.] are hemispherical or rounded at the top, hence the name Hemi.
