The goodness of the deed is related to the goodness of the heart, and the goodness of the heart is related to the goodness of the intention.

The degree to which a person is helped and aided by Allah depends on the degree of his intention, drive, aim and hopes. Help from Allah comes to people in proportion to their drive, intention, hopes and fears, and failure comes to them in like manner.

So, If you smiled in your brother's face for sake of Allah, it'll write for you as a charity; "And your smiling in your brother's face is a charity" as messenger of Allah said.
Just make it for sake of Allah.

Then measure all our doings likewise.
