My eastern red-tailed hawk (1x intermewed female) snags a squirrel up in the top of a tree. She ended up gliding into the nearby pine tree and I had to climb up, spook her off the squirrel, then call the bird down from another tree. She was just not in the sharing mood!

  • Is this still Gonzo, or a different bird now?

  • @ArrowQuivershaft Still Gonzo! She's getting turned loose this summer.

  • Does she ever get to soar, or will she escape?

  • @baddogonline She's loose and free to "escape" every time I take her out to fly. She's come back every time.

  • @rtperch Yes, but what about the hottest part of the day? Is that too dangerous?

  • @baddogonline It might be between late-spring and early fall, but hunting season is mid-fall to early spring. Only had one hawk ever ride a thermal/wind up, and he came down when I called him.
