  • @TiNaBLink - Rock N Roll history class!!!!! I sure wish they had that class when I was in high school back in the late '60's. I'll bet that's a fun class to be in.

  • I strongly disliked this recording!

  • @blueblood757 Beatles song*

  • @VinylNostalgia im taking it right now. i think i know more than my teacher. he did put on the ray charles version that i never heard before though. think i might like that one the best but aretha did her thing on it too!

  • @VinylNostalgia It is such a joy to be taking it. they just dont make music like they used to. I mean, Atlantic Records is still a pretty strong company, but the talent is just not the same.

  • @RandomDouche0421 I do not agree. Just because the song has an upbeat beat doesn't mean it is a happy song. Soul music has it's own way of conveying dark themes. This is a glorious version of this song. And I don't see how it takes away from the melancholy atmosphere at all. I totally feel the meaning here, regardless of what you say.

  • @Dolphidood It's pretty clearly ripped from a less-than-mint 7"; it's just skipping.

  • @RandomDouche0421..Understand something about Aretha Franklin, she sings and arranges songs how she feels them. Just because you can only understand this song in one light does not mean that the song can not shine under a different light...

  • I must say I don't really like this cover- I mean, the original song of Elagnor Rigby was suppossed to be really sad and depressing, about two people who were meant for each other, but sadly never found each other; and as a result, died lonely. Aretha here seems to take away that melancholy atmosphere with her usual jazzy, soulish tune. Sorry Aretha, not this time. You are a great singer, but try not to change the songs you wish to cover.
