Peter Asher recounts the creation of The Beatles' Apple Records which brought together some of the most eclectic sounds and talents of the time.

Launched by The Beatles in 1968, Apple served as the new outlet for their own recordings as well as the music of an eclectic roster of artists who were all personally brought to the label by The Beatles (individually and/or collectively). In the revolutionary spirit of the times, Apple's utopian artist-orientated mission celebrated diversity in a friendly creative environment. The result was a rainbow spectrum of music, from folk, rock and soul to The Modern Jazz Quartet and the work of contemporary British classical composer John Tavener.

  • @John37816 Wow. I write gay comments -.- I got 11 last week!! :D

  • @John37816 Apple records didn't make iPods. There are two companies called Apple. One is a record company and the other is a software company. I'll be easy on you since you're only 10 or 11.

  • The Hare Krishna Mantra is sampled on Kate Bush's'All We Ever Look for' - the bit where you hear it briefly in one speaker, a door shuts and the footsteps walk across the stereo spectrum.

  • a have and original Give Peace A Chance 7" with APPLE logo on it :))))))))

  • I love Apple, but I hope the guys learned that NOTHING is free. Anytime you see something for "free", it's because SOMEBODY ELSE PAYED FOR IT!!!

  • Dear Apple, Thank you for all your hard work over the years. From the day you were born, from recording with the greatest artists, Jackie Lomax, Badfinger, The Beatles, Mary Hopkin, Billy Preston, etc., making televison shows and movies, (umm.... I don't know. The Beatles Cartoon maybe?), to making the famous, Ipods! No other studio could do that, ladies and gents! These records arnet from any old studio but from Apple Records... From Houston TX U.S.A, John, 10 yrs.

  • 1 person doesn't understand good music

  • @MonorailVideos I taught myself. My dad couldn't listen to the beatles.

  • Thanks you Beatles yay!!

  • I sort of really dislike it when 4:3 film, video footage is cut down to modern wide screen.

And all the worse when entities like Apple/EMI and of their stature do this to make their videos cool.

Not so much with photographs but old film and video footage. The Who's documentary actually did side tricks to fill in the space left from 4:3 mixing with wide screen modern formats.

    Just gets on MY NERVE.

But thanks for the video, wonderful footage and very interesting!
