Ok soooo as I said in the video...loads had been happening.
A couple of days after I uploaded my last video saying how much Snap had improved, she started bucking, backing off and just generally being iffy and I knew something wasn't right.
The back person came up and he popped a few things back in and said she looked fine now so hop on and see. Hopped on and the reared vertically 3 times then took off across the yard, rodeoing me off and I bailed cause I figured I was the one causing the problem. Managed to catch her...someone had been up the lane and had seen her coming but she wouldn't settle until her saddle was off.
Had another back man up who had a feel, did some stuff and said she had some heat in her spine and the only thing he could think of was kissing spine. Bummer.
Had a vet out who booked her in for xrays to have a look and locate the KS.
Had another vet out as a second opinion as she hadn't been sensitive along her back at all. He couldn't find anything so made me get on and as soon as I asked her to work she bucked and threw herself around again. He thought she might have bone disease or something else wrong with her poll so booked her in for a full body scan which would mean she had to go stay at the vets for a few days.
This was all happening during my exams which was REALLY REALLY annoying.
My mum was seeing an osteopath at the time and they got talking about how he'd fixed a horse once. He came out to work with Snap and helped relieve some of the tightness and tension through her back and back legs but still couldn't ride her or anything.
Then had another osteopath out who does racehorses and stuff and he found she had a vertebrae out in the top of her neck which had trapped the nerve which runs all the way down to her back. He freed it and said hop back on.
Got on and she didn't buck but had basically forgotten everything we'd taught her. Couldn't canter for a long time and she was very tense and unbalanced.
A couple of weeks on, Sam has been working with her and she's started to improve and is cantering and stuff but last week when he came out, she was very tight and wouldn't work through her back so he suspects that there's something wrong with her back again!
Osteopath is coming out again friday but if he can't find anything then we're back down the vets and incredibly expensive scans route!
It's one thing after another with this horse!
Oh......and she turned wild when we left her out for a week cause she wasn't in work. Wouldn't be caught or anything. Then when we caught her and stuff couldn't touch her ears soooo Louise Austin came out and worked with Snappy and she's chilled about having her ears touched now, she also did work long reining her with side reins which I can now continue to help build up snaps back. Atm only hacking and doing hill work, long and low to develop her back muscles. But it's only 3 weeks until camp so am leaving it a bit late D:
Uhmmm yeah there's loads more I could talk about but I won't cause this is already super long! Bryony xo
