In Portugal's case; it's like Ireland (not modern day) Most of the people were simple & very superstitious. Trigger them off with something like Fatima and bang! the masonic coup d'etat is finished. I bet after Fatima, relations between the Holy See & Portugal improved out of sight.

You've just explained to everyone why the so-called Fatima 'miracle' occurred. No one messes with the Vatican or their agenda. If they do, heads of state are either assassinated or poisoned & social upheaval takes place. Loyola's men are not just priests; they're soldiers, well-versed in the arts of subversion, deception & infiltration of governments, masons, Protestants; the lot! They are the most educated people in the world; second to none & they believe that 'the end justtifies the means'.

Oh, I did not realise you were of the conspirationist crowd. Your theory is still question-begging: the Masonry already had control of the country--they were the ones who brought about the Republic and killed the King, and owned the two majority parties. The Church was their enemy (they cut relations with the Holy See, expelled the Jesuits, loothed churches. etc). Why give credit to their antagonist, if they already have control of the country?
