pitbulls when raised right are awesome dogs mine just died (old age) he was the best dog ever

We had dogs all our young lives, and one was a pit bull. We had him for about 4 or 5 years. He was outside, and came in and I never saw him but he grabbed hold of my face/head and punctured my eye, so I lost an eye. There was no explanation for it. I became allergic to dogs and cats and was in hospital for a few weeks and that was when I found out my Dad put our dog down. Made me feel sick.
But for the best as it turned out, as I was not able to be near an animal at all from then on.
take care

Hurray for a Dad who is close enough to intervene should anything go wrong. And he isn't on camera or in the audio saying how safe Pit Bulls are!
Often it could be the baby falling or poking the dog in the eye which may provoke a snap, not the dogs 'fault'. But this Dad (I think it was) is close enough to be in charge, for those just in case moments.
I have seen a couple of videos last night where both parents thought is was clever to make fun of those who like me are weary of any dogs

@Mir686 It's pretty easy to determine what type of temperment the dog has when you meet him.

@isaachaze1 but 1 can t make sure tht th dog gets wich characteristics even it is mixed .tht s y it z good to keep away frm pitbull just like people are afraid of snake either it z poisnous on or without poison

@BeeRich33 the stats are wrong. they classify any dog that has any appearance of being a pitbull (meaning the dog may only be partially a pitbull and mixed with something else) as a "pitbull". This alone unfairly targets the breed and is very misleading. In addition, the stats don't reflect that pitbulls are the most likely breed to be abused/neglected which can lead to aggressive behavior. Well taken care of and loved pits are the nicest dogs you would ever want to meet

My neighbors used to have the sweetest pit bull. She would get out while they weren't home and I'd need to bring her in. She'd try so hard to get my chihuahua to play with her, but was always very careful not to jump on her. Unfortunately my chihuahua's a snob and won't play with other dogs. I had to lock my one cat up, but only because he was trying to attack her (he's a big Maine Coon).

@sylmeria27 Wow you really don't pay attention. Media has nothing to do with this. I'm talking pure stats. The city I am from has plenty of episodes. It is to the point that it is huge significant. I haven't watched television for 25 years, and newspapers are just as bad. Listen to the stats.

@BeeRich33 if its in the media you are wrong media will change anything just to get attention and if the family knows the dog temperament and nature they can trust it, so its fine, if its a dog they just got i wouldnt let it near a child unless i know the dog is gentle or not
obviously the owner would not put the baby with their pet if they had any doubts in his personality. Every dog is very different and its all about their upbringing. Some people just don't understand the bonds/trust between man and k9 friends.
