You asked me to write you a song
Said that we'd never be apart for too long
I find that singing to you brings you close
But I'm still searching for the chords that will bring you home again
November nights are so much warmer than October days
Thought autumn leaves would leave behind a barren, graying place
But by the warmth of the fire, hues of auburn and red
Soothe away the lines so that only your smile is left
And though you're nowhere near I still hear your voice
In the quiet hours that rest between, Sunset and sunrise
Sometimes a whisper, sometimes a pleading
And I realize it's my own heart that's singing,
My own ear tricking me into believing it's you
You asked me to write you a song about paradise
But all I could think of was your eyes
And the last time I saw them
Were those tears the reflection of mine, or were you really crying
Sometimes the past is not as far away as it may seem
It resurrects itself, said he to sleep perchance to dream
And I see silhouettes, taking shapes, filling spaces
Asking forgiveness for plans that never realized its greatness
And though you're nowhere near I still hear your laugh
In the hectic hours that fly between, Sunrise and sunset
Sometimes it's with me, sometimes it's at me
And I realize it's the absence that's echoing
My own ear that tricking me into believing it's you
I'll sing you a song, swear I'll never be gone for too long
I find that singing to you brings you close,
But I'm still searching for the chords that will bring you home
This is a truly amazing song. It is very haunting, especially during the "November nights are so much warmer than October days" part. This is really electronic! I thought you said you didn't like it?
