Well, My first HD Video... It's important to me at least!

I think I need a new Computer in order to process 1080p, I COULD NOT edit this clip! It works perfectly fine at 720p though, so this will be only one of TWO 1080p videos for the time being. (Although I don't think 1080p is necessary for YT I had been hoping to record the upcoming 3751 excursion in 1080p for saving on a DVD and preservation for Posterity in the highest available quality)

That said, I obviously purchased a new Camcorder, a Sanyo VPC-HD2000 to replace my JVC Everio which met an untimely fate (Don't ask, please...). I'm still in the experimental mode with it and will shortly begin trying to get out and railfan again. The last few weeks have been hectic, the next two weeks will be hectic, but after that it looks like there may be smooth sailing for a month or two and I do intend to take advantage of my free time... That means I may actually get back to uploading a video every few weeks rather then every few months ;).

Shot on 3/31/09, Amtrak 572 Cruises through Sorrento Valley at 90 MPH or something close to it. The ROW through the station and across the grade crossing received some much needed maintainance resulting in the lifting of a 60 MPH slow order which had been imposed through the area for over a year.

  • just wondering, what happened to the other cam?

  • @RailsandRoads the short answer is that it got wet... I was able to dry it out and get it to work mostly, so I loaned it to a friend and haven't gotten it back.

  • The Sanoy VPC-HD2000 seems to be a real good camcorder; I want one! Does the zoom control offers the possibility to make very slow zoomings?

  • Not really, one of my few real gripes with the Camera so far. It's possible to do but you have to have a VERY sensitive touch.

  • Nice clip and nice cam! Thanks.

I wonder if you are able to show some low light footage?

  • Hey, I had to get out and try this out to answer. It does about as well as can be expected... not exactly night vision but it's certainly not blind, probably on par if not slightly better then my old Camera.

  • @Jaanfo ouch

  • Looks Great!

    Thank you, Jaanfo.

Now get a tripod and it will be perfect.

What happened to your JVC camcorder?

    Enquiring minds want to know.

    What is a "Baby Bullet"?

  • Since this was an AmTrack train, your in the states. Is your HD2000 an import? When did Sanyo release the USA version. If your unit is an import is it covered by Sanyo's warrenty?

  • We gotta get you a video tripod dooooood!
