Back during the winter of 2000 during an onstage performance at a free jazz piano recital session, Boise was asked if he could do something with "willow weep for me". At that time he could play the tune but never performed it in public because he was in the process of working out a special arrangement for it and didn't want to introduce it until it was all done.
