  • A comment from a 47-year old guy from the states: I'm new to the 'Gurus, and appreciate what I'm hearing, music I missed long ago. This video, albeit probably "old news" to the many RAN personnel posting here, has introduced me to the RAN. To me, this video honors your service, in a positive manner with lasting impressions. With great new appreciation of those serving in the RAN, "THANK YOU !", from a neighbor up north....

  • NÃO É O EXERCITO AMERICANO! Mas sim a marinha Australiana... A Banda é Australiana, portanto, escolheram para o video. Muito bacana por sinal!!!!

  • Awesome! old school Navy.

  • @Cranners1974 It's RAN connections is the general theme, and the fact it was the breakaway song for HMAS Canberra and other Aussie vessels.

  • @starquant It must be sad to be so filled with hate and vitriol that you feel your only recourse is to lash out at the world. Why do you hate yourself and your gender so badly that you feel the need to perpetuate the negative images that many people have of the feminist movement? The way you are carrying on here, in a public forum, doesn't help.

The Australian business community largely realises the gender inequity within Australian society, and is actively acting to redress this imbalance.

  • @schroecat1 well good for you. You represent only 5% of women earning more than minimum wage ( as at Jan 10th 2010, stats from La trobe Uni from Melbourne ). Don't attack me, you fool. The world is a funny place indeed, and the most peculiar of all is a woman, who thinks that because she is doing well, then so must all the others. Get off your high horse you silly bitch and grow up.

  • @Cranners1974 No the song is not about the RAN and was never said to be about the RAN. Not sure where you got that idea from. But if you listen to the lyrics, it is very relevant to the life that sailors lead.

  • This is not a song about the RAN. Not that I disrespect what they do. Its about taking steps in life but never actually sometimes quite knowing why. Not at all to actually do with the RAN, though I guess it would make sense to people in war type jobs, moreso perhaps. peace

  • @FutureAussieSoldier

Future aussie "soldier" lol i think you went on the wrong bus.

  • I remember i watched this at recruit school on the last day of training before we went on RAP. We were doing the chaplaincy thing and half the div had already gone home. Fucking memories.

  • @starquant Your comments are completely uncalled for. Women do this work just as well as anyone else, and have earned the respect of their male counterparts. For anyone to come out and say something like that undermines the brilliant work that women in the RAN do on a daily basis.

Of course, there are a few military roles which are still restricted to men, but given the outstanding example set by the women of the Australian Defence Force, I have no doubt this will be rectified.
