Just a quick startup and showing my weird semi stuck tach. Love the truck, never thought I'd buy a diesel, but after driving this thing for a while, I wouldn't want a gas truck again. Any ideas on why my tach might be going all weird like that? It's like I have to break it loose by jumping on the engine, and then when at freeway speeds it still gets stuck and sits at about 1500 RPM. Was going to show more of the truck but my battery was dying in the camera. Will take longer video with drive later on.

  • The tach and speedo went out all the way here and OD stopped working, found out it was the crank sensor, now don't have the problem with the tach anymore.

  • did you add that tach or did they come with them from factory like that?

  • Nah, it's an add on, along with the oil temp gauge (that some idiot put underneath the dash so I can't see it from the driver's seat........) It's been working fine suddenly when I've been driving it the last week or so. I hate electrical problems, but it hasn't caused any real issues, so I'm inclined to leave well enough alone.

  • I live my first gen but that buzzer was the first to go!!

  • I love my first gen but that buzzer was the first thing to go!

  • Nice truck. I love the sound of diesel. How about going for a drive?

  • Hey, what size rim/tire combo is that? The truck looks nice.

  • Thanks for doing a video without talking... so many people feel like they need to talk during the video. Usually it just makes it suck worse than it would normally.

  • Beautiful 1st gen!!!

The tach issue may be in the Sending unit, It could also be a bad ground or the resistors inside the tach are bad...

You should get on some forums....:) and get tweaking your pump for more power and driveability :) ...

These trucks are fun to drive with about $50 and a few minutes of tinkering to the injection pump. A freer flowing intake and a Straight pipe exhaust is a good place to start for more spoolup.
