  • great videos ok, you spray the inside of the window and apply the bubble wrap? what keeps it from falling off?

  • I think it's the water tension... Just try it, it stays there with just a light misting of water. Peels off easy when You need to.

    Trim edges with a razor knife.

  • well played ole man. good idea. maybe my leaky windows will work with that, my windows are almost as leaky as window screens...lol. i'll have to give it a try, thanks for the idea. i have an idea, i'll build a little one, and make a vid.... maybe this weekend...

  • Only takes about 10 minutes to do a window EV.

    Then try the old back of the hand feel it test. I was amazed!

  • If you taped it on with duct tape etc. it would double as a precaution against bombing raids, flying glass from gun shots etc. in the SHTF scenario.

  • I agree bubble wrap is a good idea, stopping the air infiltration should be the first thing to take care of.

  • The bubble wrap works so well because it traps a dead air space within the bubbles, outside air can't get to it. This gives a really good "R value", It's also cheap.

  • Anything to block out the air like plastic sheeting seems the most bang for the buck. Then adding something like a heavy aluminum backed drapery will give some R-Value (~7-10), the aluminum to reflect the heat back into the building.

  • I have plastic wrap taped around the window.. keeps the leaky single pane windows from leaking any air. $10 for a box of plastic that is good for 10 windows. I have heard of folks using plastic sheeting with rubber gasket and a wooden frame that screws onto the window frame to block air and insulate.

  • I'm going to try this, I'm feeling a draft as I watch this video, and guess where it is coming from. Just guess.

  • I usually just do the plastic sheet covering on my windows but this would add even more insulation. Excellent idea!

  • A+++

  • WOW! What an idea! Been watching and learning. You are so cleaver!
