@kdx83 Awhile back I bought a 1983 KX250 and have already begun the restoration. It will be one of those rarer - EURO accented WORKSBIKE's. I really want to get a KLP aluminum tank made for it as I not only want to enjoy riding the bike, I want it to be the koolest one around which was hand worked to perfection...
ive got a slightly modified 1978 MX 175 that goes like a scalded cat...i would love to race it against other vintage bikes for fun....great vid...looks like a lot of fun!!!
vintage mx is so much more work than modern mx the bikes are heavier and there power delivery is more unrefined. for example you could be cruising in 3rd and out of nowhere comes a big whack of power band or torque that you weren't expecting. i wanna get an 83 - 85 kx 250 and vintage mx it. i would use my kdx but i think id get shit on by the other guys on mx bikes not enduros.
Also, just my two cent on vintage racing. I dont think its the bike they're worried about breaking. Its the three months of recovery. I'm saying this with a knee injury.
i think vintage races are cool but few guys ride hard and fast which is kinda disapointing but I guess they don't want to break there bikes considering that alot of the parts are very hard to find and expensive
