Bre Pettis http://brepettis.com Get Seen http://stevegarfield.com/getseen Interview Transcript: Steve Garfield: Tell me who you are. Bre Pettis: I'm Bre Pettis. Steve Garfield: And what do you want to tell us about online video? Bre Pettis: So, the thing that came out lately with online video is I've been remembering the old days. In 2004 and 2005, me and about 20 other people started sharing videos and we would just like take tours of our apartment and get the video online and we would have challenges. We'd give ourselves a challenge and within seven minutes, we had to both shoot the movie and publish it to the Internet. So, it was really fresh. We were doing this whole thing of just sharing our lives and there are about 20 of us who are really active and we all got to know each other really well and then it got big. A lot of us are still really good friends. I miss that intimacy that we had back in the day and I've been thinking a lot about that. I think it's doable again and I've been thinking how would I do it again if I wanted to make new friends or get back into the personal side of video. I mean a lot of people I guess are doing this with YouTube. They just turn it on and they're like -- but I want to do something that's more like sharing and giving and more just like, I guess it's more like notes that you send in a letter except more like video you send in a letter. It's kind of personal. Anyhow, I'm just kind of taking a stroll down memory lane thinking about the days when there were just like 20 of us publishing video to the Internet and I'm sure there were more, but there was a group of us and we all became friends and shared our lives. If I was the boss of you, I would say go make video and give a tour of your house. Show something that might be boring to you, but might be interesting to other people. It turned out my collection of dinosaurs was interesting to people when I gave my tour. I'll look forward to seeing that online. Steve Garfield: All right. If people want to find you online, where would they go? Bre Pettis: You can go see, I have a website and a blog at brepettis.com or you can just google Bre.
Come back Bre. All is forgiven. I really miss Bre's weekend projects.
Funny how he mentions the good "old days" as 2004/2005. I suppose it's all relative.
