Does anyone seriously believe that the (then) Taoiseach Bertie (sic) Ahern even *knew* who John McGahern was, let alone read him?
At least John would appreciate the irony.

Bit of an irony with Bertie and his boom era jokes about Taoiseach's salary and house prices. But I love John McGahern, a truly great and simple man, a first class writer. Mohill must be proud. The marketing manager of the hotel has a lovely voice, accent and manner. I can see how she would win people over to her project. Lovely film.
