Worst College Football Mascots

The Syracuse Orange. The Hilltoppers. A man with a nut for a head. These could be two things: a David Lynch movie or a list of mascots. Correction—a list of the worst mascots in college football.


College football is great for a ton of reasons: the tradition, the Saturdays, the tailgating, the cheerleaders. Few alumni, though, rarely look back and say, how great was our mascot?

In fact, almost none do. The University of Michigan doesn't even have a mascot.

Sometimes the mascot is embarrassing. Sometimes it's weird-looking, and most of the time the bad ones are things that seem fun and festive until you see them in the light of day, outside of the arena and not surrounded by fans.


But who really has the worst mascot? Which mascots are booed by their home fans? Everyone has a favorite mascot, but most college fans also have a ranking of the worst of the rest.

The Stanford Tree is funny to read about, but as a mascot, there's little debate it's not so hot.
