Just a fun little bit from November 1989. Remember when AMC was fun?No sperm, no eggs, no babyswitches. Fun.

Featuring Nico and Cecily, Tad and Dixie, Langley and Phoebe,David, Melanie and Trask.
Sopranos fans, that's Matt Servitto aka Agent Dwight Harris as Trask Bodine.

Not to mention, Tichina Arnold from Martin, and Everybody Hates Chris as Sharla Valentine. Lauren Holly from NCIS and Mrs Jim Carrey fame as Julie Chandler.

And future NYC weatherman Lonnie Quinn as Will Cooney.

  • Oh kitty, I miss them as well. And Phoebe was working those shoulder pads, wasn't she? I loved her in "Citizen Kane..."

  • Before Sonny & the mob on GH................All My Children had such great people back then & great storylines.

  • @gymnastix

Tichina Arnold's character name was Charla Valentine. She was the Granddaughter of Mrs Valentine, longtime employee of Phoebe Wallingford.

  • @cathyt927 Isn't that the same actress who played the mom on Fox's "Eveybody Hates Chris?" She is now on Fran Drescher's new sitcom, "Happily Divorced," on TV Land.

But what is her character's name here, on "All My Children?"

  • @seleehwekim Yeah--he could make even the most strident hetero guy go gay! He had quite the bod-with-a-six-pack, and such a purr-ty face to go with it!!

  • @SharonJ91 It would be nice if ABC would release all the episodes of "All My Children" on DVD, in decade-long sets (the 1970s, the '80s, '90s, etc.). I'd be most interested in the epsiodes from 1970-90, could catch up on the ones I missed in the '70s, and watch the great eps. from the '80s all over again.

With some skillful editing, ABC could even produce condensed DVD sets. of highlights from each period, making sure to include scenes of all the long & shorter-term contract players,

  • @SharonJ91 Those were good ol' times on "All My Kids!" And you're absolutely correct--"Phoebe" was a real "hoot!" The soap has never been quite the same without her.

I used to love "Phebes" with "Benny," her chauffeur, how he'd call her "Duchess," and also the scenes with "Mrs. Valentine," the housekeeper. I think "Benny" wound up married to "Donna."

  • @SharonJ91 And it was positively hysterical when, after "Langley" two-timed "Opal" (telling her "Phoebe" was dying and soon they could be together), "Opal" gave "Langley" a massage at the "Glam-o-rama," then burned all his clothes in the incinerator, making "Langley" walk the streets of "Pine Valley" wearing only a towel.

  • @SharonJ91 Although Jill Larsen made a good "Opal," the original actress (Dorothy Lyman) who played "Opal Gardner" was even better. Lyman went on to co-star (as "Naomi") on the sitcom "Mama's Family" with Vicki Lawrence; also directed (and guest-starred in one) several episodes of Fran Drescher's "The Nanny."

I shall never forget when Lyman's "Opal" ran for mayor of "Pine Valley," her slogan being "Go All The Way With Opal!!"

  • @SharonJ91 Ruth Warrick is missed. She brought much humor (and a lot of chaos in earlier years) to "All My Children."

Part of the reason for "AMC's" (and soaps generally) decline is the lack of those great, older characters (and the actors/actresses who played them) in storylines..

"Langley Wallingford," "Mona Kane Tyler," "Palmer Cortlandt," "Daisy"/"Monique", "Myrtle Fahrgate," and "Opal Gardner" were all great characters too!

  • David Rampal (Melanie's boyfriend) was so hot! Any more clips of him?

  • ok i see pam, but where's SHENEYNEY?
