  • YES!

    He is THE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There is a lot here to be surprised of:

A complete video with sounds performed by the Maestro Rachmaninov himself, and yes, from a time that the technique for recording performances was not as it is now.

    But that is not important.

    We hear Rachmaninov.

In fact you would have done better, dearest Daniel, by disabling rating, why?

Well, as you see: there were visitors here who dared to rate less than five.

And wo maybe are first to say that you added less important Pianists in the past.

  • Oh thanks God! Rachmaninoff at last!!

  • *amazed*

    later

    *gasping*

    later

*sobbing, knowing he will never be as good as rachmaninov will*

    later

*goes to piano, wakes up the next morning with his head on the piano keys after a failed attempt to playing 10 hours straight*

    later

    etc...

  • Horowitz and Rachmaninoff had a similar style. both did use the singing tone for the melodies they have a very similar sound, As they met often so they exchanged a lot concerning interpretation and even composition as both were composing. Rachmaninoff even accepted Horowitz version of his 3rd piano concerto and said it was better than his own version.

  • Every composer writes down what he hears from the spheres, is connected with those divine worlds, and is a medium for those worlds for mankind, to bring it to te world.

Bit "in" this earthly world, he is as human as all others. And has to conquer his own being not completely perfect. As we all have to do. Thank you dear friend. It is wonderful to share Love for Music.

  • Therefore it would have been better to disable the ratings.

It is not about that value here.

But there are ratings abled so: I rated for the man he is. As a kind of a Thank You.

He himself has told that a certain pianist performs his compositions better than he, Rachmaninov himself!.

In that way I agree, not only with him but also with you. Interpretations can also be very personal.

  • Thank you for your honest reply.....

Because he is the composer himself I am not judging him as i am not judging Rembrandt or Monet, or Picasso.

They are not Masters, but more than Masters.

Of course I can have preferences. But that is not where it is all about here now.

Rachmaninov feels very present, in another way than when I hear his work performed by others.

They make him alive, present too. More universal, not personal.

    Here the personality is present.

  • One of my favorite recordings by him is the Troika, and let me clarify myself what I said before; I love him more on pieces other than his own concertos.

  • Dear, A, it is not me who rated this video less than 5 stars, but I do dare to give a less-than-5-star rating to Rachmaninoff. I find too many parts in his third concerto too quiet and dimunitive, and I don't like it too much. I find Rachmaninoff best on other pieces than his own compositions.

  • absolutely amazing!!! it is great to hear a composer playing their own music!
