Hong Kong celebrates Obama victory

It wasn't just the stock market that reacted positively to Barack Obama's historic win yesterday. As ballot boxes around the United States emptied yesterday, Americans gathered excitedly at "Election Central" in Hong Kong to watch the results as they were announced.

At a bipartisan event, organised by the American Chamber of Commerce, The League of Women Voters, Republicans Abroad, Democrats Abroad, the US Consulate, and the American Women’s Association, most present showed their support for Senator Obama. Huddled around TV screens in a cramped and stuffy room in Central, the crowd were rewarded as the presidential candidate won the major swing states. As if further evidence of his popularity was needed, the Democrats also won a mock ballot with 90 per cent of the vote.

In this video, watch the reaction from both camps as the election results slowly began to show the extent of the Democrat victory.

There you go with name calling. I'm a person that has voted republican in the past and voted for Obama this this time around. FDR aswell as LBJ started vast social programs and in reading history books have not seen the hatred projected upon them like people like you have spewed towards Obama. THe republicans are doing everything they can to stop the new administration changing anything. The lawmakers are at a standstill because republicans demand 60 votes at the senate for every bill. Disgrace. If republicans dont believe in government, maybe they should stop trying to run for government.
