While traveling through latin america, I made a point to see the Cerrejon Railway in the northeast of Colombia. This is a 150 km line that only transports coal from the Cerrejon Coal mine to Puerto Bolivar on the coast for export. The mine is the largest open pit mine in the world. Roster consists of GE B36-7 and AC4400CW locomotives. Video taken in Uribia, Colombia, February 19, 2009.
more than half the money on that coal load is going straight towards the hands of corrupt politicians.
