Hola vanelanndia!
Se llaman "Eyelets"
son como unos aritos de metal. Los puse alli para que cuando ponga la cuerdita, el papel no se razgue. Queda un poco mas seguro, pero no te preocupes si no tienes eso, lo puedes hacer solo abriendo el agujero.

the paper you need to work with is not 12" x 12", is it? I understand is 12" x 6"

The actual size is 12" x the length of your envelope...
(In my case, it was 15 cm.)... About 6"
