Barry Hobart (aka Dr. Creep) passed away on 14 January 2011. Dr, Creep was the host of Shock Theatre, a late-night movie program on local Dayton TV from 1972 to 1985. He also regularly appeared on "Clubhouse 22," a local afternoon children's show in the 1970s and 1980s. "The Creeper" was involved in a multitude of benefits and fund-raisers, particularly to help kids in need. We will dearly miss him. http://www.shocktheatre.org and http://www.drcreep.com and http://www.nightvisionpuppets.org and Wikipedia.

  • :( I used to never miss his shows!! I always loved him! I still make the "Snowcream" (icecream from snow) that he gave the instructions to on one of his Clubhouse shows back in 82!! And the best movie he ever showed on Shock theater was Son of the Blob!! Dr. Creep, you will be missed!!

  • My heart is broken. Happy trails, Doctor.

  • Man, I'm so sad to see this. I came here because a video (Amercian Scary) had popped up on YouTube and after watching it I finally saw Dr. Creep and thought - THAT'S the guy I used to watch so I came here so what he was up to.

Happy trails to you who seemed like a genuinely nice and caring doctor of the creep! You'll be missed, my friend.

  • Very sad to hear this news. Growing up in Yellow Springs he was my Sunday afternoon entertainment. Got to meet him once in Dayton. I'll remember him fondly.

  • I was crushed to hear the news! I grew up with him being the reason i love horror & b-movies! Miss you Barry!!!

  • @elteescat

  • I always watched him, every single saturday morning. Farewell Dr. Creep. We'll miss you. Walk safely into the Summerlands.

  • RIP Dr Creep/Barry I'll always be thankful for those great fantastic movies you shared when I was a youngster.

  • RIP Dr. Creep/Barry..you left us with some great memories of Shock Theatre and High School :):) You will never be forgotten.

  • God bless you and yours Barry. TV hasn't been the same since local hosts were replaced by 'talk' shows / informercials with anything unique not given a chance. Thanks for all the entertainment. Looking forward to meeting you in the next life where you won't be hurting any more. Love & admiration, Dan
