Oprah Winfrey strongly endorses Obama's campaign at Jaipur Literature Festival in Rajasthan, India

During her tour of India, Oprah Winfrey voiced her strong support for US President Barack Obama, and publicly endorsed his 2012 reelection campaign at the Jaipur Literature Festival in Rajasthan. Oprah says she believes in Obama and was also a vocal supporter and fundraiser during Obama's 2008 campaign. Oprah underscored his handling of the recession and said Americans seem to have forgotten they were on the verge of a depression. Wearing traditional Indian salwar-kameez clothing by Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Oprah spoke to a packed audience for about an hour at the festival.

Oprah Winfrey said at the event, "I believe in him. I love him. I appreciate him. I think that he has done, you know, of course you make mistakes, you're walking into the White House. You have the whole world waiting to see what you're going to do, watching your every move. And he's a man, he's a man. And I mean that in the best way, a man, meaning a world leader, and he's a man, he's not a god, he's a man. And so, as a man, you make mistakes sometimes in the world.

"I feel that the world forgot that we were on the brink of a depression in our country and that, you know, we were, nobody knows if we were going to be having breadlines. That may be an exaggeration, but he was able to stop that from happening. And then, as soon as it happened, everybody was like, well... They forgot, and I think that it's a difficult job, and I think that his next four years are going to be even more successful for our country, and that people are going to get back to work, and it's going to be, it's going to be a really good thing that he remained in office. I feel very strongly he will remain in office."
