I think I can speak for a lot of left-wingers when I say: We didn't ask Obama to be better than George Bush. We asked Obama to be better than Bill Clinton. If Obama had accomplished all the same things, but he hadn't brought back the Clinton team, he would be much more popular with the American people. We're not worried that Obama isn't accomplishing enough; We're worried that he isn't *trying*. Pelosi did great for two years; the problem is that nearly none of her bills were actually signed.

Extended Bush tax cuts, stated emphatically tax cuts create jobs Invaded another country, violated War Powers Act Refused to march w/Wis labor movement after promising he would Abandoned Single Payer after saying he supported it Called his own voters "sanctimonious" Cut proceeds to SS Has Medicare/retirement age on the chopping block Refused to close Gitmo Continues warrant less wiretapping Continues extraordinary renditions No real jobs program etc

It seems to me that Gitmo hasn't closed and the troops were drawn down from Iraq only to be transferred to Afghanistan... "change is hard, change is possible", change is from top down or else why would we bother voting? so if this is change that Americans voted for... it seems to me that this upcoming 2012 election is going to be one huge bugger of a catfight. Grassroots, grasstops or Netroots? Cast your vote.

I'm a Brazilian living in Canada and I tend to be more sympathetic towards American Democrats. And I agree with them when some of them say that president Obama lost a great opportunity to rally the American population into supporting the programs and reforms that America really needs, while at the same time listening to their concerns. He promised power to the people and then refrained from delivering on his promise.
I feel the same about Brazilian president Lula.

@gooseymoose America has called Harry Reid, Alan Grayson and 80 other Dumocrats back to the house & senate this week....
Nancy Pelosi was reportedly puzzled by their reporting back to the office, saying that she had several young gay men to interview over the next weeks...
Later though, the issue was cleared up when the voters told them LOUD & CLEAR
"Clean out your desks you dirtbags!!!!"
"YOU'RE FIRED !!!!!"
Blahhh Hlaaaa HAaaaaa Haaaaaaa........
Barak-you're NEXT !!!!

"America is moving foward". Really? Last I checked the unemployment rate STILL hovers around 10%. Our national debt is higher than it's ever been. Spending 3 trillion dollars in his first year. More than every president we've ever had combined. Every single piece of legislation that Obama has signed into law is despised by the vast majority of the American public. Don't ask don't tell. If he repeals that, it will be yet another thing the American people DON'T want. Our military will be wrecked.

It feels strange to listen to such a speech of Barack Obama.
Like he lost confidence and keeps hoping. Hoping like he always did. Do you think he is able to win the next election? do you think there is any chance? You can feel while he talks, that he is desperate, that he knows the system impeds the voices get loud enough. I think, his time gets lost. Change is what he told the people to fight for, but change was always something which hurt. what d you think?
@1911arthur Republicans pay their fair share? It is the Dems last Presidential nominee who hides his new yacht in Rhode Island to avoid Massachusetts' taxes while his VP choice covered up his girl friend's payments. Who named a tax cheat as Treasury Secretary? Have you heard of Charlie Wrangel, the Dems' Ways & Means Chairman?

@1911arthur The New York Times, not Fox, exposed Wrangel's cheating. All major news agencies reported Geithner's cheating. Geithner has since paid the tax. Kerry, Edwards and Wrangel are still involved in holding out. FDR and the government didn't even call them social security "taxes" they are contributions and they purportedly are based on projected benefits (what a joke that is!). So, yes, if the benefits are limited & the taxes should be too. That's what was promised. Cheat on that too?
