Don Huonot: Pyhimys ("Saint") with both Finnish and English lyrics

Don Huonot was one of the most popular Finnish rock bands in Finland in the 1990s. They had many radio hits and their live sessions were known as being very emotional and energetic experiences.
After 10 years the band broke up. The band made a comeback on summer 2010. They haven't released new songs but they have played their older songs on Finnish rock festivals.
The band was founded in 1989 by two school buddies from Helsinki, Finland: Kalle Ahola and Jussi Chydenius. Back then the band was called George Nirvana Klubi ("George Nirvana Club"). At first they thought about the name Nirvana, but it didn't seem right. (I think it's hilarious that one of this band's songs is called "Tule sellaisena kuin olet", "Come as you are" in English, which is also a song by the American grunge rock band called Nirvana. It's not the same song, only the names are the same.) The band changed their name to Don Huonot, which is a variation of their own song, "D on huono T" ("D is a bad T"). Jukka Puurula joined the band to be a bass player. At first their guitarist was Joonas Pirttilä, but after he left the band after the first album. From the second album to this day the guitarist has been Kie von Hertzen. Jussi Chydenius left the band in 2001 and after him the drums were played by Antti Lehtinen. Jarmo Saari is a Finnish guitarist, who doesn't actually play in the band but features a lot on their gigs.
The band is special because of Kalle Ahola's colourful lyrics. At first the lyrics were quite hard to get and to understand but on their album Hyvää yötä ja huomenta ("Good night and morning"), which was their break through, the lyrics were much simplier. The band used a lot of time to make the songs sound just like they wanted on record. Their music videos were forerunners in Finland. The mastermind behind most of them was the guitarist Kie von Hertzen.
Kalle Ahola is the only original member in the band. He was born in Jan 24th, 1972 (in 2010 he's 38 years old). He is the singer of Don Huonot, and has done four solo albums while the band was broken up. In 2008 he announced that he has a new band called Durak. He is also acted in a movie called Kissan kuolema ("Death of the cat").
Kie von Hertzen is the guitarist of Don Huonot. He was born in 1970 (so in 2010 he's 40). He has also directed lots of music videos. In the 80s, when he was a teenager, he was founding two bands: Pinky Lee and Venus Flytrap. Neither of them gained success. Now, in 2010, he is three bands: Don Huonot, Von Hertzen Brothers (with his brothers Jonne and Mikko von Hertzen, and Mikko Kaakkuriniemi and Juha Kuoppala) and The Mama King. Von Hertzen Brothers has been quite successful. The Mama King releases their first album this year (2010).
Jukka Puurula is the basist of the band. He was born in 1971 (in 2010 he's 39). His main job is a music producer in Mankku studio in Porvoo, Finland. He is also a music technology lecturer in Metropolia, university of applied sciences in Helsinki, Finland. Jukka is known as the member of the bands Don Huonot, Itä-Saksa ("Eastern Germany", industrial music, 3 published albums in 1995-2000) and John McGregor Band. Itä-Saksa is known underground by people in punk, rock and metal circles. John McGregor Band isn't that well known.
Antti Lehtinen plays drums in Don Huonot. He was born in 1973 (in 2010 he's 37). He is known from the bands Don Huonot, Ultra Bra and Scandinavian Music Group. All of these bands are well known in Finland. Ultra Bra and Scandinavian Music Group play pop rock.

I was 10 years old when I saw the video of this song. It scared the heck out me. :D There's a link in the end of the video to it. Today I don't find it scary... The next time the video was on tv I closed my eyes and only listened to the song. I listened mostly pop and pop rock then, but some rock songs also sounded cool and this was one of them. I forgot the band for many years and maybe half a year ago I found one of their collection cds from the library. I remembered this song and some other songs, like Seireeni ("Siren", I'm gonna do a video of it). I loaned it and found lots of cool songs. :)
I love the energy of this song in the chorus. Usually when I make a video I get kinda bored doing the chorus second or third time, but now I didn't. I almost started singing with it. :D This is such an awesome song... :) Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
