  • I used to work for a wilderness therapy program and in late july I gathered elderberries to make jam.

I just mashed and heated the berries in a little stow-away pot, I just started to heat some berries up with some honey, kept stirring them until it was a good consistency jam and then had PB&J's with it.

I let a youth in the program taste some of the jam that I made, (he was from Scotland) and he freaked out, he was yelling "it TASTES just like PROPER jam!"

  • haha, great story!

  • my mother makes wine of them!

  • cool, yeah I hav seen recipes for elderberry wine and dandelion wine, haah they go way back...

  • Do you mind me asking what book you use as a reference tool?

You know, you can also use berries like those to make paints, just ggetting that out there, primitive but it works!

Also, I've watched many of your videos, you explain in detail and it is very enjoyable to watch your videos. And because of you, I got the lansky crock stick sharpener, damn, you're gonna make me go broke! ;)

  • I(ts very nice for making cordial and wine. Delicious !

  • I made Elderberry jelly for the first time this year and it was actually very easy to strain the berries and get pure juice. No seeds to get stuck in your teeth :-)

  • superb vid, really well done, thanks

  • dude , it realy tastes better than you let on. i would eat it all the time.

  • they taste great

  • dude i love you i cant tell you how many times i have walked past these plants and never even knew what they were i wondered what elderberries were after reading the ingredients to a smoothie i bought at the gas station i love these berries many say they are very sour i think they are a little more sweet then sour i love them thanks man :)

  • I eat these things all the time whenever I camping and fishing. They're usually fine to eat if you're a normal healthy adult.

  • hey i got that book too. lots of good plants in there.

  • I like how you put this video together with the plant and the book and the way you talked. Good job.
