ABSTRACT

Among America's most serious concerns are (i) national security, which is intimately tied to energy security, (ii) economic competitiveness, and (iii) the environment. These issues transcend our national boundaries and have serious implications for the world. At the core of these problems is need to secure clean, affordable and sustainable sources of energy. Solutions must come from a combination of improvements on both the demand and supply side, and science and technology will be an essential part of the solution. After briefly describing the energy problem, the remainder of the talk will describe areas of research that may lead to transforming...

  • i mean large?

  • 39:08 she must be super small or the lines on that stick have changed. the scale doesnt look right.

  • Did anyone tell this guy the hockey stick graph at 5:46 has been completely discredited, that if the graph were extended a couple centuries earlier the line would be far higher? Greenland used to be farmed around 1000 AD, and I don't think mankind was burning fossil fuels then.

  • yea man, tesla revolutionized electric power with Wardenclyffe. It's too bad that people with power and greed filled minds would rather suppress human potential. check out a movie called esoteric agenda - jus check it on youtube, it's worth you're time.

  • "All known fusion reactors (stars) are spherical, none are doughnut shaped (Toroidal)."

Naturalistic fallacy. Stars also happen to be extremely crappy fusion reactors;(divide the power output with the mass and I think you'll be surprised just how bad the sun is).

Polywell fusion is nothing like a star; low density and pressure and not spherical. For spherical fusion reactors see inertial confinement.

Polywell is about a factor billion farther away from break-even than tokamaks.

  • just look up nikola teslas wireless power transfer on the net or my site. faster than light energy and data transfer allowing anyone on earth to have energy and internet on all points. this was made 100 years ago, his reseach was at colorado springs and his first industrial tower was at wardenclyffe. this tower would solve alot of problems in the world, please reseach it.

  • Le's the competition begin, who will be the first ?

  • They gots them perpetuum mobiles in Slovenia.

  • Grow fuel? The energy comes from the sun Photosynthesis. Fusion power could already be a reality but 92% of all fusion research goes into the Tokamak type system that is fatally flawed. Other more promising systems are ignored. Why? There is more money in squeezing us to buy dwindling fossil fuels.

  • Fusion power will never become a reality? If so mankind faces a bleak cold starving future as the fossil hydrocarbons are destined to run out and growing crops to produce fuel instead of food will be a losing proposition for sure. Do you know how much energy is expended when trying to grow fuel?
