Shafi works as a linguist in Afghanistan for the US Army and Mission Essential Personnel.

Because of Shafi's job as a translator he was able to help his family buy a car and a house and he plans to get married and go to college in the United States.

"My dream for my country...is to see a country with no war, no ethnicity discrimination, with kids going to school, with equal rights for women and men...a country more civilized and more developed with no signs of destruction."

Shafi believes that being an interpreter is a great opportunity to have a positive impact on future generations and to help one's people achieve a civilized future with hopes and stability.
