The video covers the following:

A recap of a definition of Generation C itself; defining Generation Y commenting on two authorities: Peter Sheahan and Howe & Strauss; looking at why these two authorities have radically different views on the characteristics of Generation Y; explaining how Generation Y relates to Generation C; the implications for marketing and society in general.
So - what do you think - is Generation Y selfish or selfless?

  • here is the thing i don't get. we have someone outside of gen y (my generation) who is stuffing gen y in a box and saying you are like this. well i reject that, i'll quote a favorite rapper that i listened to in highschool, i am whatever i say i am. other people can stereotype my generation all 70 to 80 million of us but that doesn't mean we are what they say we are. i believe my generation has yet to prove itself and i believe we are capable of amazing things if we put our minds to it.

  • I'm apart of Gen Y & C, I would say that I'm selfish, but how am I selfish is the question?Previous generations were about micromanaging the masses i.e, religion and politics. When I look at a big issue like gay marriage and the people that oppose when it doesn't affect them, they just don't like it...that's selfish to me. I will go out of my way to help someone if they ask .Gen X was about finding god with Reagan ...leave other people alone stop trying to control others and focus on your world.

  • mmm idk what generation i am i think i am generation y ;)

  • I think generation y has the ability to be both. The selfishness comes from the upbringing parents have told them they could get anything they want so long as they behave. Which could explain a decline in violance from the 90's and onward. What's also interesting to note is that for the majority of the generation, was also told they could accomplish anything they set their mind to. Which was a huge ego boost and could be attributed to causing a sort of self-importance to the generation.
