Description of the the Traction Control/ABS, Quick shifter, and various other aspects of the bike by the West Coast rep at Spokane County Raceway

Sorry for the quality, I didn't know the video would be so popular! It was actually filmed in high quality HD. I wish I had spent more time on the editing, I was lazy. As it turns out BMW "took" this video off of youtube and placed it on all of the dealer DVDs with the promo material.

Thanks for watching!

  • hey does this mean you cannot wheelie with the traction control?

  • @2010sudrai Correct, except in slick mode which allows up to 5 seconds I believe. If you want to though it's only a press of a button to turn traction control off and wheelie to your hearts content.

  • is that shift assist system standard on every bmw s1000 makes?

    thank you , great vid!^^

  • @BMWlSl1000RR No it's not standard. The bike's base price is $13,800. The quick shifter is an extra $450 but it is WELL worth it!

  • @Avboden i dont really get the shift assist. how does it works? you dont have to pull the clutch when trying to change gear or somethin?

  • @enjutbaby It means you don't have to pull the clutch when up shifting (you still have to down). What it does is cut the engine for a very, very short amount of time right as you shift, this puts enough slack in the drive line to allow the transmission to almost seamlessly shift without using the clutch. You can google "power shifting" to see how people do it without a quick shifter. Normally you can do this just by blipping off the gas really quick.

  • That is a beautiful piece of machinery. Thank you for the review, and ride safe.

  • @Avboden thanks, finally someone on youtube who knows a thing or two and is polite enough to teach someone without calling them stupid or something. cheers

  • this is what happens, when ze germans built a sportbike...

  • this bike totally raises the bar. BMW nailed it and made it affordable. these will be hard to find once everyone figures out how what an incredible machine it is.

its so dynamic and has more hp then any of the other liter bikes. best of both worlds with the best brakes in the whole class to. this bike is a no-brainer.

  • great video. very informative. I wish u would do the entire bike.
