Income taxes tax INCOME not WEALTH its a pretty simple concept to grasp. Except in your case, it looks like you are having difficultly. The top 1% earn 17% of the total income per year and pay 37% of the income taxes. Their wealth(assets) are irreverent unless you want to start up a wealth tax.
