@MST3Killa C-47's actually came from a spreadsheet. Column C, Row 47. They called them C-47's instead of clothespins because when money got tight and people were looking for little things to cut, C-47's sounded a lot more important than clothespins, which saved them from being cut from the budget.

is there any classes or some sort of certification i should go for to work in the lighting department,or is it all hands on work and experience. i live in los angeles california and i want to work for this industry maybe in some future join the iatse.

I'm pretty sure C-47's came from one time when on a shoot they needed more money from a studio so they said they needed "c-47's" which were hundred of dollars each. When in fact they used the money for other things, and only ordered pins. They called them essential equipment. why c-47? C.. clothespin. 47...don't know maybe c for clothes and 47 for pin.

Why are there electric set crate gack in a case called a "grip" case??? And why is there a mafer, etc, in the electric mix. That's a grip tool!!!
