  • waht are the name of that

    song the bandorgan was playing?

  • Charley My Boy. My father had it on a 78 when I was a kid, so I recognized it. There's quite a bit of information available about the song if you Google it.

  • I'm pretty sure it is.

  • Oh, it's the organ from the Milous collection, is it?

  • It is now in a museum and in perfect condition : ) Infact WurliTzerWilly has uploaded a video of that organ.:)

  • It's now in a collection back east. They had 2, one was the famous 165 with the 157 front. The other was at the Lincoln Park carousel. That one is with the former owner of the ride.

  • What did they do to the WurliTzer? Not scrap it, I hope!

  • memories...I was an operator on this same merry-go-round almost 30 years ago. Always was the fastest. It was a real nack to get the belt engaged so it wouldn't slip off.

We would get it going so fast the moms would be screaming for us to save their kids who were on the outside horses. Of course we would assist, be the hero, and get some digits as well. :) Sorry Dads, we were playas then.

I wonder if I could still jump onto the deck at full speed today?

    The Wurlitzer was awesome.

  • The band organ is modern, replacing a Wurlitzer organ years ago. They still have the music rolls from Wurlitzer, with the old songs you don't hear much anymore. A Wurlitzer 165 organ can now be heard in Santa Cruz, an hour south of the Bay Area.

  • Thanks for posting this. I remember riding on it when I was a little girl, and it was magical. Some people are restoring it.

  • CyberKen:

Too bad these things are virtually gone. Ah, what beauty from the past. Music of course is great.
