September 20, 2010 marked the inaugural Freedom Day! Hundreds of students and their teachers joined Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center to carry forward the legacy of Simon Wiesenthal who dedicated his life to freedom, justice and human rights; to celebrate freedom; and to be empowered to raise their voice. The master of ceremonies was Ben Mulroney. Guest speakers included MTV Host & Producer Aliya-Jasmine Sovani, Author and survivor of Evin Prison Marina Nemat, Holocaust survivor Max Eisen, Senator Linda Frum, students from the communities of the Congo, North Korea and Afghanistan, CFRB Talk Radio Host Spider Jones, UNITY founder Mike Prosserman, musician Marlowe Stone and her band Marlowe and the Mix and So You Think You Can Dance Canada dancers Danny Lawn and Melanie Mah.
