  • Most certainly. You'd probably miss the drive of the flatpick though. If you played utilizing the tonics with the thumb in an alternating pattern you'd flesh it out, almost like a melodic "drop thumb" Appalachian banjo style (listen to Ken Pearlman). Have fun!

    Peace,

    Bruce

  • very nice lesson!

  • Thank you for the compliment. Actually, a young friend came and filmed this for me. It's a clip from an instructional DVD that has 2 other tunes on it. And there is one for the fiddle as well. I'm working on a DVD for mandolin right now.

The young friend that filmed this is now working for the Peace Corps in the Ukraine. He'll be there 2 years teaching English, quite an adventure.

I hope this finds you and your family in prosperity and good health.

    Peace,

    Bruce

  • Awesome... THANKS SO MUCH!!!

    Please post more :)

  • Nice flatpicking. In response to the fingerpicking version, check out Duck Baker's version done fingerstyle.

  • Could this tune be done with fingerpicking?
