Themes of the Villain (Upload Week: 3 of 7)

Well hello again everyone. Here we are on composition three, and as promised, this one is a definite change of pace.

Today's piece is "Themes of the Villain". Composed in mid March of 2010, this piece was originally designed as a sort of counterpart to "Themes of the Hero" to round out a demo reel. Unlike themes of the hero, though, this piece was designed to be a collection of themes, rather then a collection of variations. As the title suggests, this piece was meant to capture some of the darker emotions, so I adapted a more modern scoring style, largely influenced by Hans Zimmer. I'll admit. I am not entirely sure I succeeded on creating a reel of themes that could actually apply to a "Villain", but overall I am pleased with the outcome of this piece.

On a side note, the theme at 2:00 became the theme to a project I am currently working on. While I won't say anymore now, there should be some more pieces coming from this project in the next few days.
