Cowboy, it couldn't be C6. The song's in C, and he plays a lot of licks that can only happen on the 2nd fret. I'm mainly a pedal steel guy, extended knowledge of lap tunings ain't my forte, but that means it has to be a Bb something or tuning with a lot of a Bb chord in it. A Bb6, F6 or EbMaj9 (or 11 or 13, as long as there's a 9 and Maj7)

my late husband was a big fan of hanks he played steel guitar and hank had a lot of steel in his music, my husband named our youngest son Hank, true country music fans!
