This was back when The Guiding Light was aired in Chicago (hometown of Irna Phillips). Apparently the best writers came from Chicago: Irna Phillips, Bill Bell, and Agnes Nixon. Douglas Marland was the only non-Chicagoan who was revolutionary. I always love listening to this.

Wow! I believe the characters in this clip are Torchy Reynolds (ex-wife of Ned Holden, who was about to marry Mary Ruthledge, daughter of the Rev. John Ruthledge, on which Guiding Light centered in its early years) and Martin Kane. Fascinating.
I can't believe they still have radio broadcasts of the show from so far back!
