This is a routine based on scales that I use to work on note attacks and airflow.

  • Great video! thanks

  • @bench53e I believe that this statement was directed at the ring on the lead pipe not the third valve slide.

  • @tealtoejam I'm not sure having the pinky in the ring effects the speed, but if you are using the pinky to create pressure then it will slow your third finger down because of the natural tendency of those two fingers to be very connected in movement. So while I don't agree with both your statements, the first one can lead to the other one...if that makes sense

  • @IceManBeCometh Most people say don't put it there though because younger players do develop a habit of using that ring to put more pressure on the face.

  • @IceManBeCometh There is nothing wrong with using the pinky ring as long as you are not using as a crutch to create a pressure seal, especially to play in the upper register. Depending on the size of your hand, having the pinky in that ring may not have any effect on the dexterity of your playing, but it is possible if you have small hands that you may want to rest the finger on top of the ring instead, which was the actual intention if that ring being there. This allows your fingers to arch.

  • is that a conn vintage with extra bracing??? I love that horn?

  • MASTER THE ARBONS BOOK !
