@Xteenrebel If you have noisey room tone (wind, AC, etc) and can't get rid of it, sometimes you have to use it through out to make the scene blend.

@Xteenrebel I should say that I'm replying to you without seeing the video yet (i'm busy dialogue editing!). Having both room tones and doing long (1 second or so) fades at the end and at the beginning of each dialogue clip helps with that transition. Adjusting your fades to different types can minimize the obviousness of the transitions. Another technique is having the first actor's room tone underneath the second actor's dialogue at a comfortable volume and vice versa.

What if you're editing between two shots, both with dialogue, that have very different roomtone? Say you're in a situation where the roomtone for both shots is a bit too loud, making the difference between them more obvious, and making it harder to add any more roomtone tracks without making the sound cluttered. Is there anything you can do besides rip your hair out?
