Hello friend.I agree with most of what you said but not that an idol is an image of God.I would like to,from my limited understanding,correct you."Na tasya pratima asti" i.e. "there can be no image of God".My understanding is Hinduism is a pantheistic religion i.e. God is omnipresent.So he's there in an idol.An idol generally represents some characteristic of God. Like Vishwakarma is the God of Machinery.So when a driver has his idol in his car,he is praying correctly as a Karmayogi.

@dilawer if we worshipped kaaba then how can u explain the fact that muslims called people for praying while standing on the roof of kaaba?? Yes!! Hazrat bilal stood on kaaba and then gave azaan.
