Beautiful Video!

I wish more people knew of Mary Astor - she was a very gifted actress, and did so many different things - silent films, talkies, stage, and later television. She had experienced so much pain in her personal life, but those experiences, I believe, allowed her to open up more on the screen than many give her credit for. The studios didn't fully showcase the raw talent she had - and that's their loss. She was an amazing talent.

WHY, WHY, WHY haven't I seen this one before ... it's been right there on your channel, and I never noticed it ... Oh, Erika this is so beautiful. Such a sweet tribute. <3

Brava. Her depth and beauty were unequalled. Her autobiography was very good, too. Probably ghosted, but even so -- tells her story with great humility. She was as great in real life as film character Edith Cortwright, and I agree: TCM should definitely make her a star of the month. Thank you for this -- the music is perfect, too.

Read somewhere that besides acting Mary Astor was also a proficient pianist.
what is this music? I like it, bittersweet

Just surfing and looking for final scenes of Dodsworth as I love to watch the transition with Walter Huston leaving Ruth Chatterton on the ship for love, a new life, a passion for new work, Italy and foremost Mary Astor. Yes, Chattertons final words " He's gone ashore, he's gone ashore!". He surely did and for glorious Mary Astor. A great tribute to her beauty and talent.

It is too bad that people do not know who Mary Astor is... She was an excellent dramatic actress. TCM needs to make her the STAR of the MONTH. I love Dodsworth. If it wasn't for her voice I would have never recognized her in Hush, Hush Sweet Charolette with Bette Davis and Olivia de Havilland as Jewel Mayhew. Thank you for the lovely tribute.

@keleigh97 I agree with every word. She was such a beauty. I hardly recognized her either in Hush, Hush... I thought she was so fantastic in it though. Such a talent and one of my very favorites. Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed watching. :-)
