Sony HD Webbie MHS-CM1

A quick test shot with my new Sony Webbie. I ended up exchanging this camera for a Sony DCR-SX40 camera which has more features and better video quality even though it doesn't have as high resolution as the Sony Webbie.

can you elaborate more on the better video quality of the sx40 than the webbie cause from what ive seen from demos in the stores you cant beat hd with an ordinary video camera.

Well, although it's true that the Webbie is going to have higher resolution video than the Sony SX40, resolution accounts for only part of the video quality. YouTube doesn't really show it since the FPS is cut down, but video seems to be much smoother with the SX40. Also, the Webbie has terrible distortion when panned horizontally which you'll notice immediately. Then there's other things like the Webbie's overly sensitive mic and lack of an image stabilizer that affect the video quality.

I basically just uploaded the HD file straight to Youtube and let Youtube do the rest. I didn't really do any post editing with this file, it comes straight from camera. It may simply look better because the camera itself is a High Definition camera.

I'm happy with my kodak zx1, but the lack of stabilizer it's truly sad.

There's pretty of hd camcorder under $200, seems like any of them has better review than sony one. Reason so cheap, cause they use the CMOS sensor not CCD and no flash or night assit night,. This player suffer bad in sound win just like my first gen sony dvd camcorder.
